Description
The lodge and gateway with screen walls, located to the northeast of Rounton Grange, was built in 1909 by George Jack for Sir Hugh Bell. It features a mixture of romantic architectural styles and is constructed from ashlar, with pantiles and stone flags on the roofs. The entrance has a low, two-centred arch set within a narrow range, adorned with pseudo-machicolated eaves and a small central gable that displays an escutcheon. To the left, there is a buttressed octagonal chimney behind a lean-to structure. A curved screen wall with stepped, gabled coping extends to the left, leading to an octagonal pier topped with a ball finial. To the right of the arch, a very small window is set in a pointed recess, followed by a linking bay that contains another small window, leading to the two-storey lodge. This lodge features a large shafted and corniced chimney stack at the left end, and its roof has curved gable copings and ball finials. The irregular three-bay road front includes leaded casements, while the park front has segment-headed sashes. Additionally, a low, curved one-storey wing projects forward to a small octagonal pavilion, which has large, projecting octagonal chimney stacks.
