Description

The Youth Hostel, originally built in 1811 and formerly listed as a range of cottages and buildings to the west of Whitby Abbey Entrance, is a single-storey structure with coursed stone and ashlar dressings. It features a new pantile roof and a range of modern dormers. The building has two and three-light mullion windows with a moulded cornice, although some modern windows have been added. There is a plain modern door situated beneath a large wooden lintel, accompanied by sidelights. This building is included in the listing for its group value, as it forms a group with Abbey House.
