Description
Nos 8 to 10 on Tollergate are 18th to 19th century, two-storey cottages that are stuccoed and rendered. They feature gable end roofs covered with pantiles and slates, and No 10 has flat eaves supported by brackets. No 8 has two windows on each floor, with flush framed sashes and later glazing, and a door to the right consisting of six flush panels. No 9 includes a gabled dormer and a canted pilastered bay window on the first floor with a projecting cornice. The ground floor has a tripartite sash window and a modern door with a rectangular fanlight. No 10 features a small gabled dormer, vermiculated quoins on the first floor, two windows, and one tripartite sash on the ground floor, all with flush framed sashes and later glazing. The door here also has a rectangular fanlight and a flat arch with a vermiculated keystone. These cottages are listed for their group value, along with Nos 8 to 11.
