Description

Donkey Road is a stone track located to the right of the Church Stairs, carved into the hillside and leading to Abbey House. A former Lord Mulgrave is noted for having driven a coach-and-four along this route in the 1780s, although most of the existing stones likely date from the 19th century. Donkey Road and the Church Stairs are recognized as a group.
