Description
Scruton House Cottage north block is a stable building that has been partly converted into a house. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some later alterations. The structure is made of red brick and features graduated stone slate roofs. It stands two storeys high and has five bays, with the central bay set back. This central bay includes a segmental carriage arch with board doors and a round opening on the first floor above. The inside of the outer bays features stable doors with overlights beneath flat brick arches. The remaining openings have ventilated stable windows with four panes at the top, except for the left-hand bay, which has four-pane sash windows. All windows have stone sills and flat brick arches. The central bay is topped with a stepped dentilled cornice. The right side of the building has a full-height round-arched recess with a segmental-headed granary board door leading to the first floor. The roof is hipped, and there is a brick stack at the left end.
