Description

These stables, dating from the early 19th century, are located on the north side of Scruton. They were later altered. The stables are constructed of red brick with a graduated stone slate roof. They are two storeys high and four bays wide, divided by pilasters. The two bays on the left feature segmental-headed carriage openings with board doors. To the right of this is a 16-pane sash window, followed by a blind opening. The first floor contains ventilated stable windows with four panes at the top. All windows are topped with flat brick arches. A stepped dentilled cornice is interrupted by pilasters, and the roof is hipped. The left return side includes a full-height round-arched recess with a segmental-headed board door leading to the first floor.
