Description
No 1 Market Place is an early 20th-century building constructed of ashlar. It stands three storeys tall and features a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course. The first floor has a continuous sill, while there is a band above the ground floor. The ground floor is distinguished by a continuous moulded impost band, which is horizontally rusticated below. The building has two bays facing Market Place and three bays facing Kirkgate. The second floor windows are framed with plain raised frames that include keystones. The first floor windows are surrounded by plain raised Wilton surrounds topped with triangular pediments supported by long fluted consoles. The ground floor windows and doors are round-arched, featuring moulded imposts and triple keystones.
