Description

Ivy House with attached wall is a late 18th-century brick house situated on the south side of Main Street, Thornton le Moor. The house is built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a machine-tile roof. It is two storeys high and comprises four bays, with a single-storey outshut to the right return. The second bay projects forward. The main entrance features a half-glazed door with an overlight, set within a 19th-century surround of pilasters, consoles, and a frieze. The windows are four-pane sashes with stone sills and flat brick arches. A dentil eaves band runs along the top of the building. There are end stacks and one stack to the ridge. The outshut is concealed by a tall, ramped wall with stone coping.
