Description

Laureldene is a late 18th-century house located on the north side of Main Street, Thornton Le Moor. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with ashlar stone dressings and a graduated stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and five bays wide. The front features a plinth, and a central entrance with a six-panel door and fanlight containing radiating glazing bars. The door is framed by a moulded architrave with a reeded frieze featuring central paterae and a dentilled cornice. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars, each set within a flat brick arch and featuring continuous sill bands to both floors. A moulded stone cornice runs along the top of the building, topped with coping. The house has corniced end stacks, and a further stack on the ridge between bays 2 and 3.
