Description

This is a house, dated 1697. It is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble with a graduated stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with a two-story porch projecting from the third bay. Quoins are present. A 20th-century porch door is set within a chamfered, quoined surround featuring a massive lintel carved to resemble voussoirs. Above the door, three ashlar stones are arranged in a triangular shape and bear the inscription "1697." The porch has bulbous kneelers, a coping, and the stump of a finial on its gable. Recessed chamfered mullion windows are found throughout; the ground floor windows have four, four, and two lights (one mullion is missing), while the first-floor windows have three lights each, set beneath the eaves. A former barn, now incorporated into the house on the left side, is not of particular interest. The previous list description mentions that the inner doorway has a segmental head similar to that on the porch, though the interior was not inspected during a recent review.
