Description
Sawley House is a farmhouse, likely dating from the early 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of rubble and has a stone slate roof, standing two storeys tall. The building features irregular fenestration with five windows on each storey. In the first bay, there is a relatively recent plain doorway, while the second bay has a chamfered doorway with a Tudor-arched head, which is now blocked and replaced by a window. Above this doorway is a 2-light double chamfered stone mullion window. The third bay contains 2-light chamfered stone mullion windows on both floors, with the upper window featuring pointed heads. The fourth and fifth bays have 3-light double chamfered stone mullion windows above, while the lower level includes a recent 3-light window and a 18th-century recessed square mullion window. There is a ridge stack located approximately opposite the arched doorway, and an external gable stack at the right-hand end. The interior has not been inspected.
