Description

This milestone, likely from the mid 18th century, is a round-headed sandstone monolith located at the junction with the A59. The main face features an inscription with a pointing hand and the distances "To Skipton 5 Mile" and "To Gisburn" (the latter is obscured). On the side facing the lane, it is inscribed with "To Settle 11 mile." These distances are measured in customary miles, and the lane is part of an old branch road connecting Long Preston to Keighley.
