Description
Red Gates is a late 18th-century, three-storey building constructed of ashlar. It has a slate roof and a moulded eaves cornice. The front elevation features two outer, double-hung sash windows, each with a keystone, and two differently sized central casements. A sash window on the first floor to the left has a round head. A solid porch extends from the ground floor, incorporating a cornice and blocking course. On the garden front, the building is also three storeys high, with four symmetrical sash windows, stone heads, and keystones, along with a glazed Doric porch on the right. A painted eaves cornice is present. A two-storey section with a ground-floor garage is on the left side of the front elevation, featuring one sash window with glazing bars and smaller windows on each floor. The first floor of this section has later glazing bars and one bay. No. 5A and Red Gates are designated as a group.
