Description

Borrage Bridge is a bridge built in the 18th century or early 19th century, which was widened to the west in the late 19th century. The east side is constructed of limestone ashlar, while the west side features rock-faced Millstone Grit. The bridge has three segmental arches, cutwaters, a band, and a parapet that is splayed outwards at either end. This bridge, or its predecessor, is depicted from the west side in Thomas Parker's "South West Prospect ... of Ripon," which is included in Thomas Gent's "History ... of Ripon," published in 1733.
