Description
The farm buildings located approximately ten metres north-east of Low Farmhouse are a threshing barn and cartshed, along with attached ranges of cow byres, loose boxes, and stables. These structures date from the early 19th century, with a roof added in the later 19th century. They are constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond, with timber-framed yard arcades and pantile roofs. The buildings create a square foldyard.
The barn range is two stories high and consists of six bays, with one-story ranges attached at the rear. There are double doors in a full-height opening, positioned to the right of the centre, featuring a timber lintel and a cambered relieving arch. To the left, there are three segmental cart arches beneath a narrow round-headed loft opening. On the right side, there are blocked threshing machine holes from a former horse-engine house, with a cambered-arched loft opening above.
Inside, the rear of the barn range has an opposed full-height opening with double board doors. The yard is aisled on all four sides and is covered by a roof. Tall jowled arcade posts support two braced and strutted king post trusses, which are raised above the aisle roofs. The aisle roofs are carried on braces and struts supported by aisle tie beams.
