Description
The Church of All Saints is a Grade II* listed building, dating from the 14th century, which incorporates fragments from the Saxon and 12th century periods in its nave. The chancel and south porch were rebuilt, and a west tower was added in 1888.
The church is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features graduated lakeland slate roofs. It has pointed windows in the nave, while the chancel and tower have square-headed windows, except for the large east and west windows that showcase decorative tracery in the style of the Decorated period.
The tower is battlemented and consists of three stages, topped with a short leaded spire, a ball and vane, and prominent gargoyles. Diagonal buttresses support the structure. Inside, the church contains several fragments of Saxon sculpture and a 14th-century effigy.
