Description

Fernbank is a late 18th-century house. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay front. The windows have plain stone surrounds and are sash windows. Chamfered rusticated quoins and stone brackets to the eaves are notable features. The stone doorcase features two engaged Ionic columns supporting sections of an entablature and an open pediment above a round-headed doorway with a keystone. The doorway has a modern 12-panel door and a fanlight with curved glazing bars. There are two chimneys. The right-hand gable end has a small Gothic window set into the gable. At the rear, a large Gothic stair window and two sash windows with glazing bars are visible.
