Description
This boundary stone, located approximately 200 metres east of Low Snape Farmhouse, dates back to 1767 and is made of gritstone. It has a square shape and stands about 60 centimetres high with a rounded top. The west face of the stone features the inscription '4 K-F 1767'. This stone was erected following a boundary survey conducted between September 3 and September 27, 1767, to mark the boundary of the Forest of Knaresborough, which was under the ownership of the Duchy of Lancaster. The commission for this stone was dated July 15, 1767, and it replaced two stones mentioned in a perambulation from 1577.
