Description
The Cock and Bottle public house, located at No 30 Swadford Street, dates from the 18th century and features Gothic elements added later. The building is constructed of painted stone and has a steep stone flag roof, rising to three very low storeys. The entrance is through a panelled door that is off centre, with one small-paned casement window to the left and two to the right. On the first floor, there are two oriel windows with chamfered stone mullions and a cornice supported by concave arched brackets. The top floor includes two small Gothic windows with three lights, where the centre light is arched and higher, complemented by arched labels in two gables. At the rear, there is a long two-storey wing featuring sash windows.
