Description

The Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed gritstone with a stone slate roof. The building follows an end-lobby-entry plan, with two storeys and three bays. It features quoins. A 20th-century glazed door is set beneath a shallow-arched lintel on the extreme left side. Double-chamfered mullion windows are present: two windows of four lights each, with hoodmoulds, to the right; a two-light window is located to the far right. Above these are a three-light window to the left, a three-light window to the centre, and a two-light window to the right. Shaped kneelers and an ashlar coping are visible, along with end stacks. Inside, a bressumer survives at the left end. Arcade posts and timbering from a single-aisled building can be seen at the rear.
