Description
Birdsall Grange Granary is an implement shed with a granary above, built around 1840 for the Birdsall Estate. The structure is made of limestone ashlar and features a Westmorland slate roof. It has a T-shaped plan and stands two storeys high with five bays on the east facade. This facade includes five elliptical arches, which are now blocked with brickwork, some of which contain doorways, and are supported by cylindrical piers. There is a band running along the facade. On the first floor, there is a round-arched pitching door with a keyed stone arch, flanked by round-arched keyed openings at a slightly lower level; the left opening is boarded, while the right has a fixed window. The building also features cruciform vents and has a hipped roof. The other facades exhibit similar architectural details, including a pair of 16-pane sash windows on the first floor of the north facade.
