Description
The Estate Office, originally a public house, is now the estate office for Birdsall Estate. It was built in the early 19th century and features limestone ashlar with herringbone tooling and a Welsh slate roof. The building has a central entry flanked by two side wings, making it two storeys tall and consisting of five bays, with the outer two being lower side wings that are set back slightly.
There is a plinth and steps leading up to a six-fielded-panel door that is topped by a radial fanlight. This door is flanked by tripartite sashes with glazing bars, which sit under relieving arches. A fire insurance sign is displayed above the door. The side wings have round-headed sashes with glazing bars and radial glazing in the heads. A band runs across the central section. On the first floor, the central section has sashes with glazing bars, while the side wings feature unequal nine-pane sashes. The building is topped with a cyma-moulded cornice and has a hipped roof, with stacks rising through the pitch of the roof in the central section and hipped roofs on the side wings.
