Description
These are two buildings at 20 and 21 Grape Lane, dating from 1669, with a later Georgian appearance. The south side of the buildings facing Grape Lane is two storeys high and built of brick. It features four double-hung sash windows, a pantile roof, and an eaves cornice. Rusticated quoins are visible. A double bowed Georgian shop window is situated underneath an enriched entablature. The two central doorways are inset with rectangular fanlights. The doors are surrounded by a double-tiered doorcase with an ornate fanlight. A side entrance has a pediment with dentil detailing, plain pilasters, and a blocked ornamental semi-circular fanlight.
Inside, a three-sided courtyard of similar design connects to numbers 1, 2, and 2A Lockey's Yard. The river front is two storeys high, built of brick, with stone rusticated quoins, and a hipped pantile roof, also featuring four double-hung sash windows.
The buildings are part of a group including Captain Cook's House, The Clinic, and numbers 19 to 28 Grape Lane.
