Description
The Midland Bank is an early 20th-century building constructed from ashlar stone. It is a single-storey structure featuring a modillion eaves cornice and a parapet. The building has six bays facing Skellgate and two bays on Westgate. The corner is curved and is supported by four fluted Tuscan columns set on a horizontally channeled plinth. The entrance door has a plain raised frame and an unusual Beaux Arts overdoor. There are two small windows with plain raised frames and three oriel windows also with plain raised frames. The side elevations include windows with simply moulded frames, sunk panels below, and keystones that connect to simply moulded oriels above. Additionally, there is a round-arched passage entrance on the Westgate elevation.
