Description

Crown Terrace is a terrace of approximately 1850, consisting of numbers 1 to 19. The central block of four houses is three storeys with a basement and attics, while the flanking ranges are two storeys with attics and basements. The terrace is stucco-faced and features bracketed moulded cornices extending across the entire frontage above the first and second floors, as well as heavy moulded eaves cornices. The windows are sash windows, with glazing bars intact, set within eared architraves above the doors. The bow fronts have three sash windows divided by rusticated Doric pilasters on the ground floor and Corinthian pilasters above. The doors are of four moulded panels, each with a semi-circular fanlight and a rusticated architrave surround. Steps lead up to the entrances, with east iron railings returning to the areas. The sharply rounded bows provide strong visual relief to the terrace. Numbers 1 to 19 form a group and collectively demonstrate group value.
