Description
Abbey Lea Care Home is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has a square plan with a central hallway and stands two storeys tall. It has three bays, with the central bay slightly recessed. The central entrance consists of a six-fielded panel door, which has 20th-century glazing in the centre panels and a blocked overlight. This door is framed by a doorcase with pilasters that support a frieze and pediment.
On the ground floor, there are unequally-hung six-pane sash windows with moulded architraves, while the first floor has four-pane sashes with ashlar sills, including a pedimented window above the door. The eaves overhang on paired wooden brackets, and the roof is hipped with stacks on the sides.
