Description

Close Farmhouse dates from the mid- to late 18th century. It is a farmhouse built of pink-red brick in an English garden wall bond, with a rear section possibly incorporating reused squared stone. The roof is tiled with pantiles and has brick stacks. The house follows a central-entry plan, with an outshut extension to the rear. The front facade is two storeys high and has a two-window arrangement. A board door with an overlight is flanked by two 12-pane sash windows, all with flat arches. The first-floor windows are two-light, horizontal-sliding 12-pane sashes set within timber lintels. A dentilled eaves course runs along the top, and there are small roof lights. The gables are coped and have shaped kneelers. End stacks are present. The rear has a single-storey outshut with a pent roof.
