Description
The Mill is a water mill located on Ewe Leys Lane, dating from the late 18th century and late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs with ashlar coped gables and kneelers. The west front displays a large iron and wooden water wheel, which is in a dilapidated state of repair.
On the north front, there are small 2-light sliding sash windows on each floor. The east front includes a 2-storey plus garret cross wing on the right, which has a doorway with double plank doors, and a 2-light sliding sash window to the left. Above this window, there is another similar window, and above that, yet another similar window. The northeast corner is supported by a pair of stepped buttresses.
To the south, there is a 2-storey late 19th century addition featuring two plank doors on the ground floor and two loft doorways above. The south front, which faces the street, is blank except for a diamond plaque in the gable inscribed 'E.W. 1882'. Inside, the mill retains all its corn grinding machinery.
