Description
Friars Garth is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a pantile roof with two rows of stone slates at the eaves level. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay elevation, with a later 19th-century lower wing to the right that is of no special interest. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door set in an ashlar surround with a keystone, all framed by a 20th-century trellised porch. The windows are all 4-pane sashes with stone sills and flat brick arches. The house has dentilled eaves, shaped kneelers, stone coping, and end stacks. Inside, there is a dogleg staircase with splat balusters.
