Description
The Old Mill is a water-mill that has been converted into two houses. It dates from the early 18th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubblestone with ashlar dressings and features a graduated stone slate roof.
The central section of the mill is three storeys high and has three first-floor openings. To the left, there is a two-storey, three-bay block, and to the right, a two-storey outshut. The central section has a modern six-panel door with an overlight on the left and a modern opening to the right. The other openings are original, featuring modern casements with stone lintels. Notably, the ground-floor opening on the right bears the inscription 'Thomas Webster Milner Anno Dom 1706'. The second floor, which dates to the early 19th century, has quoins and two small square openings. The roof is hipped, and there are end stacks.
The left-hand block has irregular fenestration with 20th-century casements and a boarded door to the right, with the roof hipped to the left. The outshut has quoins and a segmental arch with voussoirs above the original wheel race, with 20th-century casements above.
