Description
No. 59 High Street is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with later alterations. The building is rendered and has a 20th-century pantile roof. It stands three storeys high and has three bays. In the third bay, there is a 19th-century three-panel door beneath a fanlight, set within a simple Tuscan round-arched doorcase. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century canted bay windows featuring plate glass and lead roofs. The first floor has four-pane sash windows with exposed sash boxes, while the second floor features smaller, 12-pane unequally-hung sash windows, also with exposed sash boxes. To the left, there is a lead rainwater pipe with a decorative hopper head. A cornice runs along the top, and there is ashlar coping to the left. A brick stack is located at the left end of the building. This property is included for its group value.
