Description

This is a row of three cottages located on the east side of Cheapside in Knaresborough. They were likely built in the mid-18th century. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared limestone with a Westmorland slate roof, featuring an eaves course of stone slates. The design is two storeys with attics, and there are three windows on the first floor. The ground floor has 4-pane doors, with two located to the far left (the door to number 24 is situated in a blocked window) and one to the right. The right-hand door is flanked by 16-pane sash windows set within flush wood architraves, and similar windows are found on the first floor as well. Projecting sills and flat arches are present throughout. A dormer window above the eaves, to the right of centre, contains paired side-sliding sashes. Brick ridge stacks are visible to the right of centre and to the left. The cottages were possibly originally built as a single house.
