Description
No. 45 High Street is a house that has been converted into Savings Bank premises with accommodation above. It dates from the 18th and 19th centuries and is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond, topped with a Westmorland slate roof. The building has three storeys and one bay. To the left, there is a 20th-century glazed door with an overlight. A canted bay plate-glass shop window features a slender iron frame with a scroll motif. Above the shop window, a sign board is supported by a modillioned cornice and flanking decorated console brackets. The first and second floors each have three-light bow sash windows with glazing bars, and the brickwork beneath these windows is also bowed. The building is finished with a modillioned eaves cornice and has a hipped roof with a rendered end stack on the right.
