Description
The building at 17 and 17A High Skellgate dates from the 18th century or earlier and is timber-framed. It is faced with stucco, which has been scored to resemble ashlar masonry. The roof is covered with modern pantiles. The two-storied building has two Yorkshire casement windows on the first floor, featuring glazing bars. On the ground floor are two early 19th-century shop windows, one with moulded cornices and glazing bars. The doors are set within moulded frames with cornices. The rear of the building is brick-faced, while the north wall is a mix of cobbles and brick. Internally, some posts and three tie beams are visible on the first floor.
