Description
This barn, located approximately 50 metres east of North Corner Farmhouse, dates back to 1704. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The barn consists of five bays, with an outshut extending from bays 3, 4, and 5. The central entrance has double board doors beneath the outshut, while the wall to the left is obscured by a lean-to addition that is not of special interest. On the right side of the outshut, there are two stable or byre board doors with quoined jambs and large lintels, one of which is inscribed with 'P H 1704'. Inside, the roof structure of bays 1, 2, and 3 includes tie-beams and queen struts, while bays 4 and 5, which have the outshut, feature a raised cruck truss, with the cruck blades integrated into the wall structure and reinforced by a collar.
