Description

College House is a house with origins dating back to the 15th century, substantially rebuilt in the late 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings and has a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance features a glazed door within a modern porch. All windows are four-pane sashes with sill-like lintels and sills. The exterior includes shaped kneelers, stone coping, and end stacks. A round medieval stack can be seen at the rear, positioned at eaves level. The left return displays a two-light arched cusped window. Inside, the kitchen contains a pointed-arched, chamfered doorway flanked by plain columns and capitals. It is believed that the house was associated with Trinity College, Cambridge, which historically owned this part of Masham.
