Description
The building is a former granary located to the west of Stirton House, likely dating from the mid-17th century with some alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of slobbered rubble brought to course with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high and consists of one bay.
The entrance on the right side has a plain surround and a plank door. On the right-hand return, there is another entrance in the gable with a plain surround and a massive single stone on the right-hand jamb. External steps lead to the upper entrance in the gable, which has a plain surround made of three stones. To the right of this entrance, there is a small single-light chamfered window with a round arch.
Inside, the rear right-hand room has a blocked window that was converted into a privy in the early 19th century, which still contains the remains of a wooden seat and a lintel for a raking-out hole at the rear. The building also features a chamfered ridge and common rafters.
