Description
Gowthorpe House, now part of Selby Grammar School, is an early 19th-century building constructed of ashlar with a hipped slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features a modillioned eaves cornice. The front has three bays, while the side has seven bays, all with sash windows that include glazing bars. The entrance consists of a fielded panelled door topped by an oblong fanlight with Gothick glazing bars, set within a Roman Doric porch. There is an extension to the east with six bays, also featuring sash windows with glazing bars; the ground floor windows have panelled aprons. The entrance here includes a fielded panelled door with an oblong fanlight in a Tuscan surround.
