Description
Barclays Bank is a pair of houses from the early to mid-19th century, with some alterations. They are built from coursed squared stone with a plinth, and No 17 is painted. The buildings feature a pantiled roof with stone copings and chimneys. They are three storeys high and have four bays, which are slightly irregular.
No 17 has a 20th-century door with an overlight, set beneath a modern flat hood supported by iron brackets. No 18 has a replaced six-panel door framed by a pilaster-and-entablature surround. The windows of No 17 have 19th-century sashes with modern external shutters, while No 18 features replaced glazing-bar sashes, all with stone cills. The roof copings have curved kneelers, and both buildings have ridge and end coped chimneys. No 17 is included for its group value.
