Description
Bilton Court is a house dating from around 1740 that has been altered over time. It has two storeys and cellars, featuring an original three-window centre with two slightly recessed, lower two-window wings that were added in the early 19th century. The house has a slated roof with hipped roofs on the wings and is constructed from grit stone ashlar. Notable architectural features include a moulded eaves cornice and a panelled stone parapet on the central block. The windows are slightly recessed sash windows, while the wings have console bracketed cornices. The original central doorway has been converted into a window. The east wing contains an entrance with a Tuscan doorcase and an arched doorway with a fanlight. The ground floor of the west wing features a modern French window with side windows. At the rear of the west wing, there is a former late 19th-century chapel that has been converted into a billiard room, complete with a panelled interior and a hammerbeam roof. The interior of the main house has also been altered. Bilton Court is part of a group that includes the stables, coach house, and gates.
