Description
Fairfield is a farmhouse located on the north side of Leeming Main Street in Exelby. It dates from the mid-18th century and has some 19th-century features. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a machine tile roof. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays.
The entrance features a four-panel door set in a flush wood surround, topped by a flat brick arch between the first and second bays. The windows in the first and second bays are four-pane sashes with stone cills, and the ground floor windows have flat brick arches. The third bay has side-sliding sashes, also with stone cills and flat brick arches. There is a first-floor band, and the first floor of the third bay is from the 19th century and is taller than the first and second bays. The eaves have a stepped and dentilled design, with stone coping, end stacks, and one ridge stack.
