Description
Central Buildings and The Toll Booth is a row of four shops dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed from red-brown local brick and feature a pantile roof with stone coping and kneelers on the left side. The building has two storeys and two bays. On the ground floor, there are 20th-century shop windows with varied fenestration and doors. The upper floor has 19th-century sash windows set in flush wood architraves, including one unequal sash with glazing bars. On the left side, there are exterior stairs leading to the first floor. At the rear, there is a round-arched staircase window with glazing bars and additional small-paned sashes. A 19th-century extension is present but is not of special interest. The building is included partly for its group value.
