Description

A row of cottages located at 6, 8, and 10 Finkle Street, Knaresborough. The buildings likely date to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are probably timber-framed, although the exterior is now rendered, with a Westmorland slate roof. The cottages are two storeys high with three first-floor windows. The ground floor has 20th-century doors and windows, including a 24-pane bow window on the far right. The first floor features an 8-pane side-sliding sash window on the left, and 8-pane casement windows towards the centre and right. Rendered stacks are visible along the ridge, and a stack is positioned above the door of number 8. The steep roof pitch and small size of the first-floor windows suggest that remains of a timber-framed building might exist, with a ground floor later built in brick. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
