Description

Trowbridge Farmhouse is a 1754 farmhouse, with a 19th-century extension to the rear and a 20th-century addition. It was built for George Wrightson. The front of the farmhouse is constructed of coursed squared limestone, with a rendered finish to the rear and brick to the rear extension. It has a pantile roof and brick and rendered brick stacks. The original design was a three-cell, direct-entry plan, with a later rear extension. It is two storeys high with a three-window front. A plain door is situated to the left of centre, with a datestone above. To the right of the door are two 3-light, large-pane sliding sash windows; a fixed-light window is to the left. The first floor has three 3-light, large-pane, horizontal sliding sash windows with stone sills. All ground-floor openings are topped with flat stone arches, while the upper windows have thin timber lintels. The farmhouse features end and a right-of-centre stacks.
