Description
The Forster chest tomb, dating from around 1798, is located approximately 2 meters south of the east end of the Church of St Mary in Hornby. This tomb commemorates Margaret Forster of Hunton, who died in 1798. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a central sunflower in a circle on the longer sides, flanked by fluted panels and end pilasters of console section. The shorter ends have a fluted panel also flanked by end pilasters of console section. The well-cut inscription is found on the moulded lid.
