Description

The gate piers near Hornby Lodge date from the late 18th century to the early 19th century and were built for the Duke of Leeds of Hornby Castle. They are made of ashlar sandstone. The gate pier to the north of the road has a square plan with a chamfered base, a hollow-chamfered capital, and a ball finial. The southern gate pier is similar but is partially set into the wall surrounding Hornby Park. These piers are included for their group value.
