Description

These are 18th or early 19th century cottages located on the south side of Westgate. They are two storeys high and constructed of coursed stone with a pantile roof and brick stacks. Each cottage has two windows on each floor, featuring modern four-light mullion and transom windows. The windows have wooden lintels. The front doors are wooden; No. 49 has a door of six panels, while No. 50 has a more modern door. These cottages form part of a larger group, which also includes numbers 1 to 22, 23A and 23B, 24 to 29, storage premises to the left of numbers 28 and 29, 30 to 37, 37A, and numbers 38 to 69. Specific buildings within this group, including numbers 11 and 12, 17 to 19, the storage premises to the left of 28 and 29, 37, 37A, 38 and 39, 41 and 65 to 69 are noted as being of local interest. Numbers 1 to 4 also form a group with the Wesleyan Day School.
