Description
This is a 19th-century garden feature located approximately 30 metres north-east of the walled garden at Croft-on-Tees, Halnaby. It consists of an ashlar base made up of three square steps that support a plinth for a granite Doric column. The column has no entasis or taper and is topped with an urn that features handles shaped like intertwined serpents. The sides of the urn are decorated with male masks and it is a copy of the Warwick Vase, which was brought from Tivoli by Lord Hamilton and is likely made by Doulton.
