Description
Gibbet Cottage is a house dated 1795, constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble with a pantile roof that has one eaves course of stone slates. The building is two storeys high and features three bays. It has quoins and a rendered plinth. A 20th-century glazed door is located between the first and second bays, with a plaque above it inscribed "F ?T H 1795" in a moulded surround. Stone brackets and a cornice have been added above the door. The cottage has 24-pane sash windows in flush wood frames throughout, all with projecting stone sills. The ground-floor windows in the first and second bays have incised lintels, while the others are plain. There are remains of a kneeler and gable coping on the left side, along with an end brick stack to the left and a ridge stack between the second and third bays. On the left return, the attached rear outshut features a small-paned window on both the ground and first floors. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
