Description
The barn located to the north of Murton Hall was built in the 17th century as a wing to the hall, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features quoins. The roof is covered with graduated slate and has stone-flagged eaves.
The barn has a full-height 20th-century door leading to the threshing floor, along with a blocked three-light mullioned window and a single-light window to the right on each floor, both with hoodmoulds and labels. There is a 20th-century garage door and window on the left side of the ground floor. Above this, a door with a false four-centred head is situated between two blocked mullioned windows, one with two lights and the other with three lights, both also featuring hoodmoulds with labels. The rear of the barn has additional blocked mullioned windows. Inside, a large segmental arch to a blocked fireplace can be seen in the south wall.
